I am totally obsessed with these Spiced Fig and Walnut Crepe Rolls every fall.

Seriously, the smell of simmering figs, cinnamon, and nutmeg in my kitchen is like pure magic.

The figs are sweet and slightly tart, the walnuts add a crunchy nutty hit, and the soft crepes wrap around it all in this creamy, cozy bundle that makes you want to hug your fork.

I love making these for brunch or dessert because they look fancy but are actually super easy.

Every time I serve them, friends or family always go nuts, and I have to hide a few rolls just for myself.

These rolls are basically tender crepes stuffed with a walnut cream and spiced fig compote.

The flavors are warm and autumnal, the textures perfect, and they really scream fall in every bite.

INGREDIENTS :

Ingredients for the Crepes (makes about 8 crepes)

1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup water
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ingredients for the Spiced Fig Compote

2 cups fresh figs, stemmed and diced (about 8-10 figs)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup water

Ingredients for the Walnut Filling

1 cup walnuts, finely chopped or ground
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Why I Love These Ingredients

The flour gives the crepes structure while keeping them tender.

Milk and water make the batter creamy and pliable. Eggs add richness and protein, butter makes everything taste cozy, sugar balances the spiced flavors, and cinnamon gives it that warm autumn vibe.

The figs are naturally sweet and slightly tart, walnuts add crunch and healthy fats, and the cream cheese filling is silky and slightly tangy.

Nutmeg adds a gentle spice, lemon juice brightens the figs, and a pinch of salt just pulls everything together. Honestly, every ingredient is like a little flavor bomb.

Making the Crepes and Filling

I start by making the crepe batter. I whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.

In another bowl, I mix the milk, water, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.

I pour the wet into the dry and whisk until it is smooth and thin, like heavy cream.

Sometimes I blend it for 10 seconds if I want it extra smooth. Then I cover it and let it rest for 10 minutes while I prep the compote and filling.

For the fig compote, I dice the figs into small pieces.

I melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then toss in the figs, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and water.

I stir it and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes until the figs soften and the mixture turns jammy. My kitchen instantly smells like fall heaven. I set it aside to cool a little.

For the walnut filling, I mix the chopped walnuts, cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.

I whisk or use a hand mixer until it is smooth and creamy. If it seems too thick, I add a little extra cream until it spreads easily.

Cooking the Crepes

I heat an 8-10 inch non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.

I pour about a quarter cup of batter into the center, swirling the pan to make a thin, even layer.

It cooks for 1-2 minutes until the edges lift and the bottom is lightly golden, then I flip it for another 30-60 seconds.

poi

I stack the crepes on a plate and repeat until I have about 8 crepes.

Assembling the Rolls

I lay a crepe flat, spread a tablespoon of walnut filling across the center, then spoon a tablespoon of fig compote on top.

I roll it up like a little cigar and place it seam side down on a platter.

I repeat until all the crepes are rolled. Sometimes I drizzle extra compote on top or sprinkle a few chopped walnuts for a little fancy touch.

Serving and Enjoying

hjj

I serve 2 crepe rolls per person, warm or at room temperature. They go perfectly with a hot cup of coffee or spiced tea.

I sometimes add a side of yogurt or fresh fruit if I want a more complete brunch vibe.

If I am hosting, I like arranging them on a platter with a little bowl of compote for dipping. People always love it, and I secretly love watching them take that first bite.

Leftovers

oij

If there are any left, I store the rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The fig compote and walnut filling last 4-5 days separately.

To reheat, I pop them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or in a low oven for 5 minutes. If the filling thickens too much, I stir in a splash of cream or water and it is perfect again.

My Tips

opopo

I like using ripe but firm figs so the compote isn’t mushy.

For the filling, I sometimes leave the walnuts a little chunky for texture, other times I grind them finely for a smoother spread.

If your batter feels too thick, a little extra water fixes it.

I also sometimes make the fig compote and crepes a day ahead, which saves a ton of stress.

For a neat presentation, I pipe the walnut filling with a piping bag, but honestly, spreading it with a spoon works just fine too.
